The Human Resource Department provides a broad range of services to City officials, Department Managers, and employees. This department is responsible for recruitment and staffing, benefits and compensation administration, personnel policy administration, regulatory compliance, training and development, organizational development, safety and health, workers compensation, employee relations, internal communications, and personnel records management.

In accordance with city policy, first consideration for job vacancies is given to qualified city employees. With the exception of entry-level sanitation, police officer, and firefighter positions, applications from the public are only accepted for specific vacancies that have been advertised in the Athens Courier and posted in Human Resources or on the City's web site. A properly completed original City of Athens application is required. Faxed copies are not accepted. If you wish to apply, please come by the Human Resources Department between the hours of 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
